Back in September, we attended the FutureM and INBOUND Conferences in Boston. As you might expect at an event called “Future of Marketing,” we spent a lot of time talking about, well, the future of marketing. We had a chance to interview some of the top thinkers driving innovation and transformation in the marketing world, and get their perspective on the Big Question: what IS the future of marketing?

WHO is C.C. Chapman and WHY should you care?

  • C.C. is an entrepreneur, author, blogger, speaker, and one of those passionate marketers who gets that smart marketing is about human relationships.
  • He is the founder of the humanitarian consultancy Never Enough Days.
  • Daddy bloggers are absolutely a thing, and C.C. is one of them.
  • Find him online at CC-Chapman.com and @cc_chapman

Thoughts on the Future of Marketing:

  • There will always be print/radio ads in the traditional sense. But the future of marketing will entail more actual relationships with fans. The most successful brands will take that extra step to find where their fans hang out, and talk to them with their language, use their inside jokes, etc.
  • People want the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to brands. Whether they love or hate your product, people want to engage and will continue to expect responses from brands.
  • NFC (near field communication) will become ever more prevalent. The key will be in finding the way to make it helpful, not intrusive. Apple Pay got people thinking about it. The period of experimentation has just begun.
  • True wearables are not there yet. But the space is in its infancy, and anyone not paying attention is going to miss out.
  • Every marketer is trying to jump on every “real-time marketing” opportunity, but brands toe the line of trying too hard. People chatter about RTM stunts in the first 24 hours, but it rarely does anything tangible for businesses.
  • On teaching your kids how to thrive in a world filled with digital marketing: Question everything. Never take anything as truth right away.

The interview with C.C. in the series was truly one of my favorite. Pay close attention to his advice.Agree with C.C.? Disagree? Share your thoughts in the comments!Chel WolvertonAccount Manager, Marketing Technology[futurem][cta]

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
