One thing we’ve learned in the age of COVID-19 is that innovation is the key to success. Whether it be teachers finding new ways to connect with students from afar, companies learning how to stay productive in remote or hybrid work environments, or startups finding new ways to solve the next big problems to come our way.

Venture capitalists have taken note. Crunchbase News reports that in the first half of 2021, global venture capital funding amounted to $288 billion invested worldwide, with 17 companies raising billion-dollar rounds. The report further indicates that late-stage funding more than doubled year over year, with 1,600 companies raising late-stage funding. Early stage and seed funding also saw record-breaking numbers.

While the surge in venture funding is great news for companies, it also means competition for media attention is fierce and the battle for share of voice will be challenging. Partnering with a PR agency can help companies get creative to break through the noise, maximize resources and make an impact. Here are a few ways a PR partner can help beyond the big announcements:

Amplifying media engagement opportunities

With so many companies raising funding this year, staying top of mind with key media is critical in getting your story heard. It’s obvious that product launches and major company announcements call for press releases and media engagement. But engagement does not begin and end with the next big announcement. A PR partner can work with leadership and sales teams to identify customers, partnerships, certifications and other less obvious news opportunities that can be used to cultivate relationships with key media in between major announcements.

Identifying spokespeople other than the CEO

A CEO often wears many hats and carving out time for media interviews or writing bylined articles can be difficult. A PR agency can work with internal stakeholders to identify additional spokespeople within the company. This frees up the CEO for other business and ensures the company never misses a media opportunity. With a PR partner in your company’s corner, spokespeople will be confident and prepared with messaging and media training for success in every media opportunity.

Maximizing content

Once a press release goes out on the wire, its life doesn’t need to end there. A PR partner can work with your company to identify other ways to leverage the content of a press release. Like building out that content for use as a bylined article to be published in an industry trade outlet, as a company blog post or as social media fodder. This allows additional opportunities to build SEO to ensure your company’s news remains at the top of search results.

If the second half of 2021 is anything like the first half, there will be many more venture funding announcements, with news of unicorns, IPOs and exits. SHIFT offers a variety of programs for B2B, consumer, healthcare and technology companies to ensure a company’s news is communicated successfully.

There’s five months left in 2021, how will you make an impact?

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
