#GivingChristmas: Cradles to Crayons, kids in search of winter necessities

Yesterday, two teams of volunteers from our Boston office made their way to Cradles to Crayons, a volunteer organization that strives to help children who need the essentials fulfill those needs via a social worker or other adult representative. In short, it was heartrending to realize how many kids are waiting on a warm coat or shoes to help them through not only the cold winter months, but year round conditions.

One in 45 children experience homelessness in America each year.  That’s over 1.6 million children. 1.6 million.  While not all the kids that asked for help from Cradles to Crayons yesterday are homeless, the 300,000 kids who did ask still need warm winter clothes.

How you can help

If you are in the Boston area, you can donate your time as a volunteer. If you aren’t,  you can contribute funds that will go towards helping a number of children depending on your donation.

CtoC has broken it down by dollar amount to number of kids:

If your child has items that he or she has outgrown, you can ship them to Boston or Philadelphia, or donate them to a charity near you.

While we often wish for things during the holiday season to bring us joy, there is so much joy in making sure that a child or 50 keep warm.

Please help in any way you can.
